A PIECE OF ANNAPOLIS HISTORY

LEGISLATIVE NEWS

This is a home video of a captured Japanese submarine on display at the City Dock area of downtown Annapolis, Maryland between 1942 and 1945. The Type A Ko-hyoteki class submarine was captured by the U.S. Navy after the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. The Department of Defense commissioned a truck to haul the submarine around the country as a promotional exhibit to drive War Bonds. What an amazing video time capsule showing Annapolitans in the 1940’s and some of the old buildings in downtown Annapolis. We want to loop this and other historical Annapolis and Navy videos on our big screen HD television screens in our Seawolf Brewery restaurant and brewery. This video was shot by the Grandfather of Annapolis native William Henneberger. The kid at 33 second’s is William’s Father. William’s Aunt and 2 Uncles are also in this video.
